After high school I was a bit of an adventurer, including hiking 800 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail across Oregon & Washington in 1972, then working at Denali Natl Park in 1975. After completing my masters in counseling in 1978 I returned to Alaska where I lived for 6 years and was a founding member of a women's psychotherapy center. I moved back to Sacramento in 1983 where I worked as a drug counselor in a local women's treatment program. After getting my license as a Marriage Family Therapist I opened a private practice in 1988 in Midtown. In the 2000's I taught graduate students in the Counselor Education program at CSU Sacramento for 3 1/2 years. In 2016, after a career spanning 39 years, with 28 in private practice, I retired.

After returning from Alaska I met Lisa Brown and we moved in together in 1985. We have 2 children, Jackson who is 31 & Sara who is 29. Lisa retired from Cal EPA & Air Resources Board in 2015, but now works part time as an environmental prosecutor for the Sac County DA and teaches environmental law around the US. It allows us to travel when we want to for long periods of time. Until the pandemic hit we were traveling internationally every 9 months, fulfilling our bucket list of countries to visit. We will have been on our third trip in a year by the reunion, with one more shortly after the gathering. We are very grateful that we are able to follow these dreams.
